Welcome and thank you for your interest in volunteering your time to The Colony Public Library. Library volunteers help fulfill the Library’s goal of providing excellent service to the community. Volunteer service is performed with guidance from the Library staff and may include such activities as:
• Getting new materials ready to be placed in the collection
• Assisting with youth programs
• Repairing damaged materials
• Shelving returned materials
• Shelf-reading (keeping the materials in order)
• Assisting users of the Library’s public access computers
• Teaching classes about popular subjects
• Leading book discussion groups
• Developing local history files
To start the process of volunteering at The Colony Public Library, complete the Library’s volunteer application form, available at the Library. Volunteer applicants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who must sign a wavier in the presence of library staff.
