Train LIKE a lifeguard with a conditioning program drawn from our nationally recognized staff in-service plan!
It’s swimming with a wicked twist... deck drills and games. It’s tough, fun and prepares you to tackle the strength needed for your summer swim skills. It should slim you down, build you up and keep you entertained!
It includes crazy races like manikin drags, brick jogs, treading, blindfold sprints, sand relays and many, many more!
Please note that this specialized conditioning program
is NOT a certification or license for lifeguarding.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING
This American Red Cross course gets you the latest rescue techniques in the water and on the land. CPR for the Professional Rescuer and the use of an Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
COURSE MATERIALS- Provided by Instructor: rental of bag/valve/masks; manikins & movies. Rescue Breathing Masks and whistles will be provided for each student to keep.
Participants must be at least age 15 by the end of the course.

PHYSICAL PREREQUISITES--
1. Swim the following 300 yards without stopping,
100 yards Front Crawl (with rhythmic breathing)
100 yards Breaststroke (pull/breathe/kick/glide sequence)
100 yards Front Crawl and/or Breaststroke.
2. Complete following timed test:
Swim 20 yards (Front Crawl or Breaststroke)
Surface dive to 7-10' and retrieve 10-lb. Object;
Swim back to starting point with object in both hands.
3. Tread deep water for 2 minutes without using your hands. (NEW REQUIREMENT) |

Extra Adult Lap Swim Lanes (Sept thru May)
Two lanes set aside for some serious laps. Available equipment includes pull buoys, kickboards and hand paddles. Blended with some Private Coaching, this could get you that "edge" for those tough triathlons. $4/walk-in ($2 discount with Park & Rec ID Card)

Lunch Bunch Swim (Sept. thru May)
No stroke requirements! Just plain water time for leisurely lap swimming or your favorite "head's up" routine. Plenty of equipment and encouragement. An excellent place to start your water program.
This activity is covered by the Seasonal Pass OR can be a $4 walk-in. ($2 discount with Park & Rec ID Card)

Get a great work out from head-to-toe (without sweat!). Swimming ability not necessary. This is an instructor driven class, set to music and fun!

Kayak Classes (Teen/Adult)
Always wondered about the excitement of whitewater spray in your face? Learn solid basics with ACA certified instructors. This is an excellent opportunity to try out a wide variety of boats without going through the hassle of renting. Texas Tornado Kayak Polo (Teen/Adult)
Fast & exciting! This sport combines the high speed of polo and the agility of kayaking. The Kayak Polo Club works out in the Heated Indoor Pool at The Colony during the school year and out to Lake Lewisville during the summer.
The team has traveled to international competitions in Brazil, Canada and the Netherlands. Call at (972) 624-2225 for more information.
Schedule: 8:30-10:30 Saturday nights.

Fabulous Friday Flip (Kayak Roll Sessions)
If you have a boat and just want a chance to perfect the Eskimo Roll in a warm water pool, then load up your gear and come on in.
Schedule: October through April -First Friday of each month
Cost: $5 per drop/in
If you don't have a boat, or just want to try out the latest designs in hull construction, we have a rare opportunity. Several Eric Jackson boats are available at no extra rental charge.
