AARP Driver Safety Program
This driving refresher course is designed specifically for seniors, and offered six times a year. A certificate awarded at the end of the course may allow for lower insurance rates for the next three years. The cost of the course is $12.00 for AARP members and $14.00 for non-members. The one day session meets for four hours. Call the Community Center for upcoming dates and times.
Matter of Balance Exercise
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 - 10:00am
Stretch, strengthen and tone muscles in this no-impact exercise class. If you have arthritis or just need to start a regular program, this free class is the place for you. Most exercises are done seated with a stretchy band. Fore some exercises, you may stand or remain seated if desired. This is an ongoing class that may be joined at any time.
Line Dance
Mondays, 10:00 - 11:30am
Thursdays, 1:00 - 2:30pm
Instructor Wynell Williams has taught line dance since 2004 at area recreation centers. Wynell not only makes line dancing fun as you learn new steps, but also it is a great form of low impact aerobic exercise. This is a free class.
SPAN Services
SPAN, Service Program For Aging Needs, is available to deliver lunch at the The Colony Community Center or home deliver meals for homebound senior citizens. Pre-registration with SPAN is required and orders need to be made 24 hours in advance. For more information, call (972) 624-2247. The SPAN program is provided by Denton County.
